- 1 c. softened butter
- 1 3/4 c. sugar
- 1 Tbsp. vanilla extract
- 3 large eggs
- 2 1/4 c. unsifted cake flour
- 1 c. unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1 3/4 c. milk
- 7-Minute Frosting (recipe follows)
Directions

1Grease and flour 3 (9-inch) round baking pans.

2In large bowl, beat together butter, sugar and vanilla until light and fluffy. Add eggs and beat until well combined.

3On piece of waxed paper, sift together flour, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Add to butter mixture alternately with milk, beating just until well combined.

4Divide batter into prepared pans.

5Bake 25 to 30 minutes until center springs back when touched.

6Cool 10 minutes. Remove from pans.
