- 1/2 c. shortening
- 3/4 c. sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 1/2 c. sifted all-purpose flour
- 3/4 tsp. salt
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 2/3 c. milk
- 1/3 c. presweetened instant cocoa powder, mixed with 1/3 c. broken walnuts
Directions

1Cream together the shortening, sugar and eggs until light and fluffy.

2Sift together the all-purpose flour, salt and baking powder.

3Add to creamed mixture alternately with the milk, beating well after each addition.

4Spoon 1/3 of the batter into well-greased 6 1/2-cup ring mold or 9 x 9 x 2-inch pan.

5Mix presweetened cocoa powder and walnuts.

6Sprinkle half over batter in pan.

7Repeat layers, ending with batter.

8Bake at 350° for 35 minutes.

9Let stand 5 minutes.

10Turn out of mold.
