Coffee Can Bread(Hobo Bread)

Ingredients

  • 1 pkg. yeast
  • 1/2 c. warm water
  • 1 Tbsp. sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. oil
  • 1 can evaporated milk
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 4 to 4 1/2 c. flour

Directions

    Dissolve yeast in warm water and 1 tablespoon sugar.

    Let stand 15 minutes.

    Then add 2 tablespoons sugar, oil, evaporated milk and salt.

    Add flour 1 cup at a time.

    Beat thoroughly.

    Last cup will have to be beaten by hand.

    Put into well-greased 1-pound coffee cans.

    Place lids on.

    Let rise until lids pop.

    Then bake in oven at 350° for 30 to 35 minutes or until done.

    Then let stand 5 to 10 minutes and remove from cans.
