Ingredients
- 1/4 c. boiling water
- 1 Tbsp. coffee
- 2 c. sifted cake flour
- 3 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 6 eggs
- 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1 1/2 c. sugar
- 1 tsp. vanilla
Directions

1Combine boiling water and coffee.

2Add cold water to make 1 cup.

3Sift cake flour, baking powder and salt; set aside. Separate eggs.

4Place whites in a deep bowl and add cream of tartar.

5Beat until stiff, but not dry.

6Gradually add 1/2 cup sugar in beaten egg whites.

7Continue to beat until whites stand in peaks.

8Place yolks in large bowl and beat gradually.

9Add 1 1/2 cups sugar and vanilla.

10Beat until very thick.

11Alternately with cooled coffee liquid, fold egg yolks and flour mixture, 1/4 at a time, into beaten whites.

12Put in a 10-inch tube pan and bake at 350° for 1 hour.
