  • 1 can lye
  • 3 pt. cold water
  • 5 1/2 lb. fat
  • 1/2 c. powdered Borax
  • 1/2 c. turpentine
  • bluing

Directions

    Have lye water cold and fat lukewarm before mixing.

    Stir until it starts to thicken, then add turpentine and Borax.
  3. 3
    Add enough bluing to tint.
