  • 1 stick butter
  • 1 c. shortening
  • 3 c. sugar
  • 5 eggs
  • 3 3/4 c. flour
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 tsp. lemon extract
  • 1 c. milk plus 1 Tbsp. milk

    Cream butter, shortening and sugar.

    Add eggs, one at a time, beating well.

    Sift dry ingredients and add to creamed mixture. Fold in vanilla, lemon extract and milk.

    Pour batter into a greased and floured tube pan and place in a cold oven.

    Turn oven onto 325° and bake for approximately 1 1/2 to 2 hours.
