Cold-Oven Pound Cake

Ingredients

  • 5 small or 4 large eggs
  • 3 c. sugar
  • 3 c. flour
  • 1 c. Crisco
  • 1 c. milk
  • 1 stick butter or margarine
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 5 Tbsp. cocoa (if making chocolate pound cake) or 2 tsp. vanilla, almond or your favorite flavoring

Directions

    Cream sugar, shortening and butter.

    Add eggs; beat well. Add dry ingredients, alternating with milk, beating well after each addition.

    Add vanilla or other flavoring.

    Pour into tube or Bundt pan that has been greased and floured.

    Start in COLD oven. Bake at 325° for 1 hour and 30 minutes or until tester comes out clean and cake begins to pull away from pan.

    Let cool a few minutes and turn on rack to finish cooling.
