  • 1 large head shredded cabbage
  • 2 large onions, sliced thinly and separated
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 c. vinegar
  • 1 tsp. pepper
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. celery seed
  • 1 c. salad oil

Directions

    Layer cabbage and onion in airtight container until full. Have onions on top.

    Combine sugar, vinegar, salt, celery seed and pepper in pan and bring to a boil.

    Remove from heat.

    Add oil. Let cool some and pour over cabbage and onion mixture.

    Cover and place in refrigerator.
