  • collard greens (any green leafy vegetable)
  • 2 or 3 slices bacon
  • 1 c. water
  • about 1 1/2 c. water

Directions

    Place bacon in large heavy kettle.

    Brown carefully.

    Add 1 cup water to hot kettle.
  4. 4
    Put in collards (that have been washed and torn from large stems).

    Turn burner to lowest heat (not simmer).

    Cook 1 hour.

    Add about 1 1/2 cups water before putting lid on to cook.
