Ingredients
- 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour or 2 3/4 cups unbleached flour
- 2 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
- 2 cups firmly packed brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 4 cups buttermilk (To substitute for buttermilk, use 1/4 cup vinegar or lemon juice plus milk to make 4 cups)
Directions

1Preheat oven to 350°F.

2Grease two 9x5 inch loaf pans.

3In large bowl combine all the dry ingredients.

4Mix well, until thoroughly combined.

5Slowly add buttermilk to bowl, stirring until well blended.

6Pour into loaf pans.

7Bake for 50 minutes, or until toothpick inserted into center comes out clean.

8Remove from pans immediately and cool on wire rack.
