  • 2/3 cup shortening (melted butter)
  • 1 pound box brown sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 2 3/4 cups flour
  • 6-ounce package chocolate chips

Directions

    Cream together shortening and brown sugar. Add eggs, mixing well. Add dry ingredients and vanilla and mix well. Add chocolate chips. Spread on greased cookie sheet with sides (12 x 15). Dough will be stiff. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 - 25 minutes. Do not overbake. Let cool slightly and cut into bars.
