  • 2/3 c. shortening or margarine
  • 1 lb. pkg. brown sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 1/2 c. flour
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 (12 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips
  • 1 c. nuts (optional)

Directions

    Soften shortening or margarine.

    Beat in brown sugar, eggs and vanilla.

    Then add flour, salt and baking powder.

    Mix in chips and nuts (optional).

    Bake at 350° for 30 minutes in 15 1/2 x 9 1/2-inch pan.
