Ingredients

  • 2/3 c. butter or shortening (1 stick plus 3 Tbsp.)
  • 1 lb. brown sugar (2 1/4 c.)
  • 2 2/3 c. flour
  • 2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 c. chopped nuts
  • 1/2 pkg. chocolate chips

Directions

    Melt butter in saucepan.

    Add brown sugar and stir until blended.

    Remove from heat and cool about 10 minutes.

    Beat in eggs, one at a time.

    Sift together the flour, baking powder and salt.

    Stir in flour mixture, nuts and chocolate chips.

    Mix well. Spread in greased 10 x 13-inch pan or 10 x 15-inch.

    Bake 25 to 30 minutes at 350° to 375°.

    Cut into squares when slightly cooled.
