Ingredients
- 2/3 c. shortening
- 2 1/4 c. packed brown sugar
- 2 3/4 c. all-purpose flour
- 2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 3 eggs, beaten
- 1 Tbsp. vanilla
- 2 c. semi-sweet chocolate chips (12 oz.)
- 1 c. chopped nuts
Directions

1In a saucepan, melt shortening over medium heat.

2Stir in brown sugar.

3Cool slightly; combine flour, baking powder and salt.

4Add gradually with eggs to shortening mixture.

5Stir in vanilla, chips and nuts (batter will be very stiff).

6Spread into a greased and floured 12 x 9 x 2-inch baking pan.

7Bake at 350° for 25 to 30 minutes.

8Cut into squares while warm.

9Yield:
