  • 3 c. white sugar
  • 1 stick butter
  • 3/4 c. cold water
  • 7 drops oil of peppermint
  • about 7 drops food coloring

Directions

    Combine first 3 ingredients in heavy saucepan.

    Stir until mixture dissolves and starts cooking.

    Do not stir again.

    Place candy thermometer in and cook on medium-high heat until 279° (soft crack).

    Pour on a cold buttered marble slab.
  6. 6
    Pour flavoring and color on candy.
