  • 3/4 c. yellow cornmeal
  • 1 c. plain flour
  • 1/3 c. sugar
  • 3 tsp. baking powder
  • 3/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. milk
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 2 Tbsp. melted shortening

Directions

    Mix well.

    Pour into an 8-inch square pan and bake 20 minutes at 425°.

    (I melt 3 tablespoons of shortening in the pan I'm going to use and leave the extra grease in the pan.)
