- 1/4 c. shortening
- 1 c. corn meal
- 1 c. all-purpose flour
- 2 to 4 Tbsp. sugar
- 4 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 c. milk or buttermilk
- 1 egg, beaten
- 2 Tbsp. honey
Directions

1Heat oven to 375° to 400°.

2In skillet or pan, heat shortening; tilt pan to coat skillet and on sides.

3Combine dry ingredients.

4Add milk, shortening and egg; mix until blended. Pour into hot pan.

5Bake 20 to 25 minutes or until golden brown. Makes 9 to 10 servings.
