- 1 3/4 c. corn meal
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. salt (level)
- 1 c. buttermilk
- 1 egg
- hot bacon grease (3 to 4 Tbsp.)
Directions

1Preheat oven to 435°.

2Mix dry ingredients together.

3Add buttermilk and mix well.

4Add egg and stir.

5Add hot grease; stir and pour into hot skillet where grease was heated.

6Bake for 20 minutes and test with fork.

7(Uncooked mixture should be thick; decrease buttermilk, if necessary.)
