- 1 c. self-rising flour
- 1/2 c. cornmeal
- 1 1/2 Tbsp. sugar
- 2 Tbsp. vegetable oil
- 1 large egg, lightly beaten
- 1 c. buttermilk
- 1 (16 oz.) pack wieners
- vegetable oil
- mustard (optional)
- ketchup (optional)
Directions

1Combine first 3 ingredients in a large bowl.

2Combine 2 tablespoons oil, egg and buttermilk; stir into flour mixture, mixing well.

3Cut each wiener into 5 pieces.

4Dip each piece into batter, coating completely.

5(Use wooden picks to aid in dipping.) Pour oil to depth of 3 to 4 inches in a Dutch oven; heat to 375°. Fry pieces until golden, turning once.

6Drain on paper towels. Serve with mustard/ketchup, if desired.
