- 1 c. boiling water
- 1 c. corn meal
- 1 Tbsp. bacon grease
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- onion powder
- onion flakes (optional)
- 1 tsp. baking soda
Directions

1Bring water to boil. Add bacon grease, salt and onion powder (boil to soften the onion flakes if you add them).

2Remove from heat.

3Stir in corn meal and baking soda.

4Wet your hands and shape in oval corn pones.

5Fry about 5 to 6 minutes on each side or until golden brown.

6Drain on paper towels.
