  • 1 c. cornmeal
  • 1 c. flour
  • 1/4 c. sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 c. milk
  • 1/4 c. shortening

Directions

    Combine dry ingredients in mixer bowl. Beat in egg, milk and shortening. Pour into 8 x 8-inch pan. Bake at 375° for 30 minutes. Double the recipe if you want a 9 x 13-inch pan of cornbread.
