  • 1 c. cornmeal (plain)
  • 1/2 c. flour (plain)
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. sugar
  • 1/4 c. Crisco
  • 1 egg
  • 1 c. buttermilk

Directions

    Combine all dry ingredients.

    Add Crisco, beaten egg and milk; mix well.

    Add a little water if batter seems stiff.

    Pour into hot, well-greased pan and bake for 25 to 30 minutes in preheated 435° to 450° oven.
