  • corned beef (3 to 4 lb.)
  • whole peppercorns
  • bay leaf
  • 1 clove garlic
  • vegetables (carrots, potatoes, cabbage)
  • 1 large onion
  • butter
  • mustard
  • brown sugar

Directions

    Rinse corned beef with cold water and place in large pot, cover with water and season with whole peppercorns, bay leaf and garlic.

    Bring to a boil for 10 minutes, then reduce heat and slow cook for 2 1/2 hours or until tender.

    Drain meat.

    Save some broth to cook vegetables in.
