- corned beef (3 to 4 lb.)
- whole peppercorns
- bay leaf
- 1 clove garlic
- vegetables (carrots, potatoes, cabbage)
- 1 large onion
- butter
- mustard
- brown sugar
Directions

1Rinse corned beef with cold water and place in large pot, cover with water and season with whole peppercorns, bay leaf and garlic.

2Bring to a boil for 10 minutes, then reduce heat and slow cook for 2 1/2 hours or until tender.

3Drain meat.

4Save some broth to cook vegetables in.
