- 1 c. maple syrup
- 1 tsp. shortening
- 3 tsp. sugar
- 1 egg
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1/2 c. milk
- 1 c. flour
- 2 tsp. baking powder
Directions

1Bring maple syrup to boiling.

2Pour into loaf pan.

3Mix all other ingredients with electric mixer until very smooth.

4Pour batter over maple syrup.

5Bake at 400° about 25 minutes.

6Turn upside down on platter after cooling about 10 minutes.

7Slice and serve with whipped cream, nuts or ice cream.
