  • 1/4 c. shortening
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 2/3 c. milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/3 c. sifted flour
  • 2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt

Directions

    Cream together shortening and sugar.

    Add egg and vanilla. Sift together salt, baking powder and flour.

    Add dry ingredients alternately with milk.

    Beat well.

    Bake in a greased and floured 8 x 8 x 2-inch pan at 350° for 35 minutes or until done.

    Serve warm with lemon sauce.
