  • 1/2 c. butter
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 c. light brown sugar
  • 1/3 c. finely chopped pecans or walnuts
  • 1 c. flour
  • jelly or preserves

Directions

    Cream first five ingredients.

    Gradually stir in flour, blending well.

    Cover and chill until firm enough to handle. Work 1/2 at a time.

    Keep rest in refrigerator.

    Shape into nickel size balls and roll in nuts.

    Place 1-inch apart on ungreased cookie sheet.

    Gently press thumb into center and fill indentation with jelly or preserves.

    Bake at 350° for 15 minutes (until brown). Store in refrigerator in tins.
