- 1/2 c. butter
- 1 egg yolk
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1/4 c. light brown sugar
- 1/3 c. finely chopped pecans or walnuts
- 1 c. flour
- jelly or preserves
Directions

1Cream first five ingredients.

2Gradually stir in flour, blending well.

3Cover and chill until firm enough to handle. Work 1/2 at a time.

4Keep rest in refrigerator.

5Shape into nickel size balls and roll in nuts.

6Place 1-inch apart on ungreased cookie sheet.

7Gently press thumb into center and fill indentation with jelly or preserves.

8Bake at 350° for 15 minutes (until brown). Store in refrigerator in tins.
