Ingredients

  • 2 c. firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1 c. butter or margarine
  • 1/2 c. cornstarch
  • 1/4 c. molasses
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 6 qt. popped popcorn
  • peanuts (optional)

    Mix first 5 ingredients

    thoroughly until mixture boils, stirring constantly.

    Remove from heat.

    Add baking soda and vanilla.

    Mix well.

    Pour over about 6 quarts of popped popcorn. Add peanuts to taste.

    Put in a large roasting pan and bake 1 hour at 250°, stirring every 15 minutes.
