- 2 c. all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. soda
- 2 Tbsp. shortening
- 1 c. nuts, chopped
- 1 orange, juice and grated rind with enough boiling water to make 3/4 cup liquid
- 1 c. sugar
- 1 beaten egg
- 1 c. whole fresh cranberries
Directions

1Sift together dry ingredients into bowl.

2Add orange juice, grated rind (and water) and shortening.

3Stir.

4Add the beaten egg, cranberries and nuts.

5Put in greased 9 x 5 x 3 -inch loaf pan and bake at 325° for 45 minutes to 1 hour.
