Ingredients
- 2 c. flour
- 1 c. sugar
- 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. salt
- 2 Tbsp. melted shortening
- about 2 Tbsp. boiling water
- 1 egg well beaten
- 1/2 c. chopped nuts-optional
- 1 1/2 c. chopped cranberries (measure before chopping)
- juice and rind from 1 orange
Directions

1Sift dry ingredients together.

2Pour orange juice into a measuring cup add rind and melted shortening and enough water to make 3/4 of a cup.

3Combine orange juice mixture and beaten egg.

4Stir liquid into dry ingredients just until moistened.

5Fold in cranberries and nuts and pour into a greased loaf pan.

6Let stand for 20 minutes before baking.
