Cranberry Vinegar

6 ingredients
3 steps

Ingredients

  • 1 quart white vinegar
  • 2 cups fresh cranberries, divided
  • 4 (3-inch) sticks cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1 orange
  • 12-inch wooden skewers

Directions

  1. 1
Combine vinegar, 1 cup cranberries, and cinnamon in a saucepan; bring to a boil. Reduce heat; let stand 2 minutes. Stir in honey.
  2. 2
Using a citrus stripper or a paring knife, cut strips of rind from orange, reserving orange for other uses. Thread remaining 1 cup cranberries and orange rind on skewers; place in decorative bottles or jars.
  3. 3
Strain vinegar mixture, discarding cranberries. Pour liquid over skewers in bottles. Store at room temperature 2 weeks before using to let flavor fully develop. Remove skewers as vinegar level drops to prevent spoilage of cranberries.
