- 3 lb. small white onions fresh or canned, drained
- 1 tsp. seasoned salt
- 4 Tbsp. butter or margarine
- 4 Tbsp. flour
- 2 c. milk
- toasted slivered almonds, optional
Directions

1If raw onions are used, peel and place in saucepan.

2Add half the salt and just enough water to cover, bring to boil, cover and cook 20 to 25 minutes.

3While onions are cooking, melt butter in pan, blend in flour and rest of salt (or all the salt if using canned).

4Gradually add milk and cook, stirring constantly, until mixture thickens and comes to a boil.

5Add drained onions; heat to serving temperature, sprinkle with almonds and serve.

6Makes 12 servings.
