Creamed Turnips

  • 2 lbs small turnips
  • 1 cup thinly sliced onion
  • 1 12 tablespoons flour
  • 1 cup skim milk
  • 18-14 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 18-14 teaspoon nutmeg
  • black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons shredded swiss cheese

    Peel and quarter turnips.

    steam turnips with onions until turnips are tender.

    In a saucepan whisk flour with 2 tbsp milk until smooth.

    Add remaining milk and cook until thickened.

    Add spices.

    Pour over turnip that is in a 1-1/2 qt ovenproof bowl.

    Sprinkle with cheese.

    Bake 350 for 15 min.
