Crispy Spiced Tofu

Ingredients

  • 21 oz semi-firm silken tofu, drained, each piece of tofu cut into 6 pieces
  • None None vegetable oil, for shallow-frying
  • 1 None carrot, julienned
  • 2 oz pea shoots
  • 6 None small red radishes, julienned
  • 2 oz daikon radish, julienned
  • 2 tsp soy sauce
  • 2 tsp lime juice
  • None None Spice Coating
  • 2 tbsp flaked sea salt
  • 1/2 tbsp Szechuan peppercorns
  • 1/2 tsp chili flakes
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch

Directions

    For spice coating, dry toast salt, pepper and chili flakes over high heat until fragrant. Pound using a mortar and pestle until finely crushed. Mix with cornstarch.

    Heat oil in a medium saucepan over high heat. Dust tofu in spice coating. Working in batches, fry for 1-2 mins per side, until golden. Drain on paper towels.

    To serve, toss vegetables with soy sauce and lime juice. Serve with crispy tofu.
