Crock Pot Cabbage Rolls

  • 12 large cabbage leaves
  • 1 lb lean ground beef (or use ground turkey or lamb)
  • 2 garlic cloves, chopped
  • 12 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 12 cup cooked rice (or use uncooked rice)
  • 1 (6 ounce) can tomato paste
  • 34 cup water
  • 12 teaspoon salt
  • 14 teaspoon pepper
  • 14 teaspoon thyme leaves

    Wash cabbage leaves.

    Boil 4 cups water.

    Turn off heat.

    Soak leaves in water for 5 minutes.

    Remove, drain and cool.

    Cook ground beef with chopped garlic and onions until browned and then mix with cooked rice, salt, pepper and thyme.

    Place 2 tablespoons meat mixture on each leaf and roll firmly.

    Stack in a crockpot or slow cooker.

    Combine tomato paste and water and pour over stuffed cabbage rolls.

    Cover and cook on low setting for 8 - 10 hours.
