Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup millet 1 1/2 oz, uncooked
  • 1/4 cup pearl barley 1 1/2 oz, uncooked
  • 13 cup brown rice 2 oz, uncooked
  • 1 cup onions chopped
  • 1 cup green bell peppers chopped
  • 1/2 cup carrots finely chopped
  • 1 each red kidney beans canned, drained
  • 8 ounces tomato sauce
  • 1 pound tomatoes canned, chopped, drained, reserve liquid
  • 1 1/2 cup corn canned, drained or frozen
  • 1 teaspoon oregano dried
  • 1 teaspoon basil dried
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 x salt to taste
  • 1 x black pepper to taste

Directions

    Combine all ingredients in a crockpot.

    Add water to reserved tomato liquid to equal 2 1/2 cups.

    Stir into grain mixture.

    Cover and cook on low setting 8 hours.

    Stir before serving.

    Serves 8 as a side dish and 4 to 6 as a filling main course.

    You can use any combination of grains.
