- 1 1/2 c. butter or margarine, softened
- 3 c. sugar
- 6 egg
- 1 Tbsp. vanilla extract
- 1 tsp. almond or lemon extract
- 3 c. all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp. salt
Directions

1Cream butter well in a large mixing bowl; add sugar gradually, mixing until texture is fine and mealy.

2Add eggs, one at a time, beating after each addition.

3Add flavorings.

4Combine flour and salt; stir flour mixture into batter, beating until flour is moistened.

5Do not overbeat.

6Pour into a greased and floured 10-inch tube pan.

7Bake at 325° for 1 hour and 25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean and cake shrinks slightly from sides of pan.

8Cool in pan 15 minutes.

9Turn out onto a wire rack to complete cooling.
