   Place the water, bluing, salt and ammonia in a jar and stir thoroughly.

   Set the coal or briquettes in an old pie tin in a single layer.

   Pour the solution on top.

   Put several drops of food coloring on coal (or briquettes), leaving some areas plain. Set it in a quiet place.

   The next day, you will see gorgeous crystal-formations.
