Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lb. ground lean beef
  • 2 Tbsp. lard or oil
  • 2 medium onions, chopped
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced or mashed
  • 1 large green pepper, chopped
  • 2 large tomatoes, chopped or 1 small can tomato puree or 1/4 c. tomato catsup
  • 1 bay leaf, broken in little pieces
  • 1/3 c. white wine or sherry
  • 1/2 c. raisins
  • 1/3 c. stuffed olives, sliced, capers or mixed olives and capers
  • vinegar
  • salt and pepper

Directions

    Fry onions and garlic in fat until soft.

    Add tomatoes and bay leaf and allow to simmer a little.

    Throw in meat and fry until brown, stirring frequently.

    Add remaining ingredients, stir-frying all the time.
