- 1 1/2 c. brown sugar
- 6 level tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. nutmeg
- 2 eggs
- 1 1/2 c. shortening (could use half butter)
- lemon or citron peel to taste
- currants or raisins
- milk (to make a soft dough)
Directions

1Mix as for pie dough, cutting in shortening, then add fruits and last milk.

2Roll on floured board to 1/2-inch thickness. Cut in any shape desired.

3Dip in sugar. Bake on cookie sheet about 8 minutes at 375°.
