  • 3 c. milk
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • a few gratings of nutmeg (if desired)
  • prepared raw pie crust

Directions

    Scald milk.

    Beat eggs slightly.

    Add sugar, salt and vanilla, then add scalded milk.

    Pour this mixture into chilled raw pie crust.

    Bake at 450° for 10 minutes, then at 325° for 30 minutes. To test for doneness, insert a table knife in center of pie.

    If it comes out clean, the pie is done.

    Yields 1 (9-inch) pie.
