  • 3 cups self raising flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons caster sugar
  • 40 grams butter
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 cup water approximately

Directions

    Sifted flour salt and sugar into large bowl, rub in butter.

    Stir in milk and enough water to mix to sticky dough.
  3. 3
    Turn dough onto floured surface, knead until just smooth.
  4. 4
    Place dough on greased oven tray, press into 16cm round.

    Cut a cross in the dough, about 1cm deep.

    Brush dough with a little extra milk, and then sprinkle with flour.

    Bake in moderate hot oven for about 45 mins.

    Lift onto a wire rack to cool.
