- 2 1/2 c. flour
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 c. shortening
- 1 egg yolk
- milk
- 1 to 1 1/2 c. cornflakes, slightly crushed
- 8 to 10 apples, peeled and sliced
- 1 c. sugar
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1 egg white
Directions

1Mix flour and salt and cut in shortening.

2Blend egg yolk in measuring cup.

3Add enough milk to make 2/3 cup of liquid.

4Add to flour mixture. Roll half of dough to 17 x 12-inch rectangle.

5Fit into jelly roll pan, bringing up the sides.

6Place cornflakes on top of pastry.

7Add apples.

8Sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon. Roll the other half of the dough to a 15 1/2 x 10 1/2-inch rectangle and place over top. Crimp edges together. Whip egg white until frothy and spread over dough. Bake 1 hour at 400°.

9Frost with powdered sugar glaze.
