Danish Coffee Cake

- 1 yeast cake in 1/2 c. lukewarm water
- 1 c. scalded milk
- 1 c. shortening
- 3 Tbsp. sugar
- 1 tsp. salt
- 3 eggs
- 4 c. flour
Directions

1Dissolve yeast in warm water.

2Put shortening, sugar, salt and flour in large bowl.

3Mix as for pie crust.

4Beat egg yolks, milk and yeast mixture.

5Add to flour and beat well.

6Divide into 4 parts and roll thin, about 11 inches long and 10 inches wide. Spread butter, brown sugar, nuts and almond paste onto the rolled out crust.

7Fold both sides over and let rise until light.

8Bake in 350° oven for 25 to 30 minutes.
