- 1 1/2 c. lard
- 1 c. molasses
- 1 1/4 c. sugar
- 2 eggs
- 4 1/2 c. flour
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp. each cloves, ginger and nutmeg
Directions

1Bring to boil the lard and molasses and cool.

2Add the sugar and eggs.

3Sift together dry ingredients of flour, salt, baking soda, cinnamon, cloves, ginger and nutmeg.

4Add to boiled mixture. Chill.

5Roll into strips like a thick pencil; cut in 1/4 inch chunks.

6Scatter on cookie sheet and bake at 350° until golden brown.

7Use very little flour to roll them in.

8Do not let the bits touch each other on the baking pan.
