- 1 cup Shortening (I Used Butter Flavor)
- 1 cup Sugar
- 1/2 whole Egg
- 1/2 teaspoons Vanilla
- 1/2 teaspoons Almond Extract
- 2 cups Flour
- 1/2 teaspoons Salt
- 1/2 teaspoons Baking Soda
- 1/2 teaspoons Cream Of Tartar
- Raw Sugar, For Sprinkling On Top

1Preheat oven to 250 degrees.

2Cream together shortening and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg, vanilla, and almond extract until well blended.

3Sift together dry ingredients. Add to the butter mixture. Chill.

4Form dough into small balls and place on a cookie sheet. Press down using a fork in a criss-cross pattern (a glass dipped in sugar will work as well). Sprinkle tops with raw sugar.

5Bake at 250 degrees for 6-8 minutes, until the edges turn a little brown.
