Ingredients
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. softened butter
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 2 c. flour
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 c. butter (at room temperature)
- 1 c. raisins
- 1 c. walnuts
- 1 whole large orange, cut in chunks
Directions

1Butter and flour a 13 x 9-inch cake pan.

2In large bowl of mixer, cream sugar, butter and eggs; add vanilla.

3Stir or sift together flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt.

4Add flour mixture alternately with buttermilk to the creamed mixture, stirring well after each addition.

5In a food processor or grinder, finely grind the raisins, nuts and orange (peel and all). Reserve 2 tablespoons of this mixture for Orange Frosting.

6Add the remaining ground orange mix to cake batter.

7Spread batter in prepared pan.

8Bake in preheated 350° oven for 40 to 50 minutes, or until toothpick inserted near center is clean.

9Cool in pan on rack.
