- 1 cup chopped dates, roughly chopped
- 1/4 cup glace ginger, finely chopped
- 1 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
- 1 1/2 cups SR flour
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon mixed spice
- 1 egg, lightly beaten
- 125g tub PHILADELPHIA Light Spreadable Cream Cheese
Directions

1Place the dates, ginger and bi-carb in a bowl.

2Pour 1 cup boiling water over the top and stand for 10 minutes.

3Combine the flour, sugar and spice.

4Fold in the date mixture and beaten egg.

5Pour into a lined 20 x 10 cm loaf pan.

6Bake at 180 degrees C for 40-45 minutes or until an inserted skewer comes out clean.

7Allow to cool on a cake rack.

8Cut into slices and serve spread with some Philly*.
