Ingredients
- 1 c. dates, cut in small pieces
- 1/2 c. chopped walnuts
- 3 c. sifted flour
- 1 egg
- 1 1/4 c. milk
- 1/4 c. vegetable oil
- 1/3 c. sugar
- 2/3 c. orange marmalade or apricot jam
- 1 tsp. salt
- 3 tsp. baking powder
Directions

1Mix 1/2 cup flour with the dates and nuts. Set aside.

2Blend together the egg, milk, oil, sugar and marmalade or jam. Sift the remaining flour, salt and baking powder into the bowl with the liquid mixture and mix quickly, only enough to moisten the flour. Add dates and nuts and fold in.

3Pour into greased 9 x 5 x 3-inch pan and bake at 350° for 1 hour. Test with toothpick.

4Cool for 30 minutes on rack before turning out of pan. Cool thoroughly before wrapping to store.

5Freezes very well.
