- 1 c. dates
- 1 c. nuts, chopped
- 2 Tbsp. margarine
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 2 c. boiling water
- 2 c. sugar
- 4 c. flour
- 1 tsp. salt
- 2 tsp. baking soda
Directions

1Place dates, magarine, salt and baking soda into boiling water.

2Let simmer 5 minutes.

3Add nuts and vanilla.

4Cool.

5Mix sugar into mixture and add flour gradually.

6Fill greased cans (soup size) about 3/4 full.

7Bake 1 hour at 350°.

8Makes about 6 cans.
