  • 1 c. dates
  • 1 c. nuts, chopped
  • 2 Tbsp. margarine
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 c. boiling water
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 4 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 2 tsp. baking soda

Directions

    Place dates, magarine, salt and baking soda into boiling water.

    Let simmer 5 minutes.

    Add nuts and vanilla.

    Cool.

    Mix sugar into mixture and add flour gradually.

    Fill greased cans (soup size) about 3/4 full.

    Bake 1 hour at 350°.

    Makes about 6 cans.
