Ingredients

  • 2/3 c. flour
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 1/2 to 2 c. dates, sliced (10 oz.)
  • 1/2 c. chopped nuts or 1 c. coconut
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 c. sugar

Directions

    Sift flour, salt and baking powder in a bowl; add dates and nuts and mix.

    Beat eggs until very light.

    Add sugar gradually and beat.
  4. 4
    Add to flour and fruit mixture.
  5. 5
    Spread thin in well oiled pans and bake in a 325° oven for about 40 minutes.

    Remove from pan after it has been out of oven a few minutes and cut in strips.

    Roll in powdered sugar and store in a tightly covered jar or box.
